An upcoming band from the south will be playing a live set and being interviewed on the radio this Sunday (March 17).
The Pretty Visitors
Quartet Indie rock band The Pretty Visitors will be performing an acoustic set and chatting to the presenter on 103.9 Voice FM, a not-for-profit station based in Southampton.
Bassist Sam Bennett, who lives in Titchfield Common, said the group was looking forward to the show and hoped to get signed to a record label in the future.
“They contacted me asking if we’d like to go on,” said the 18-year-old of Oriel Drive. “We’d like to do the best we can and hopefully get signed and promote our music for everyone to hear us.
“Hopefully everyone will enjoy us.”
The band is made up of Sam, guitarist Aaron Evans, 20, Connor Reid, 19, guitar and main vocals, and Jack Rudland, 20, who plays the drums. Their influences include Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes and The Vaccines.
The other band members meet at college and live in Gosport and Stubbington, so Sam was travels to practice with them.
Despite having only been introduced to the band through mutual friends last summer, Sam said they had all been practicing hard, playing gigs in Portsmouth, Southampton and Gosport and hoped to spread further afield to perform in Bournemouth and London as well as record an EP.
“We have started writing our own music together, booked up some gigs and done some recording,” he said. “Nothing as an official EP, but cds to give away at our gigs. They’re also available on download.
“We write about experiences and aspirations in life. One song, I Won’t Change For You, is about not changing yourself for what another person wants you to be.
“We’ve played at The Joiners and The Talking Heads and will be playing at The Cellars in April. We’ve thought about playing in Warsash, so we’re hoping to set up a gig there soon.”
