Thieves took Locks Heath Tennis Club’s banner from the fence near the entrance to the Locks Heath Shopping Centre by the Locks Road roundabout.

It had been put there on March 12, but had disappeared by March 14.

Trevor Spence said the banner, which cost the club £110 when it was bought three years ago, was used each year to advertise the event.

“It has just disappeared,” he said. “It will cost the club £130 to replace the banner.

“I find it quite sad that people can do that when we’re a club doing something for the community.

“If anyone is aware of who has it could they please get in touch with me.”

The banner measures six foot by three foot, is white with black typed lettering. The theft has been reported to the police.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or email Mr Spence on ts2@talktalk.net.

  • The tennis club’s enrolment evening is next Monday, March 25, at St John’s Church in Church Road, from 7.30pm to 9pm.
