Almost 70 institutions, including Oxford, Cambridge and 12 other top research universities, set up a ‘one stop shop’ for students researching courses for 2014 and beyond. Exhibitors included five Welsh universities, three from Scotland and the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland.
Year 10 and 11 pupils from Brookfield, Hamble, Wildern, Swanmore, Thornden and Quilley schools visited Barton Peveril’s fair for their first introduction to the world of higher education.
They were encouraged to think about subject choices and the GCSE results they need to progress to sixth form college and university.
Meanwhile, Barton Peveril students focused their attention on specific degree subjects, facilities, entry requirements, graduate employment rates and the tuition fees charged for different courses.
Feedback from university representatives praised the college’s welcoming atmosphere and the enthusiasm of students who were complimented for being polite, well prepared and keen to learn about all the options open to them.
