Southampton play their last game of the season when they host Stoke City this Sunday knowing they are guaranteed Premier League football again next season.

Already assured of safety after Wigan failed to beat Arsenal, the Saints can look forward to the match with optimism.

But, off the field issues could cloud the end of season celebrations at St Mary’s with doubts over the future of chairman Nicola Cortese and, if he quits, that could prompt manager Mauricio Pochettino to walk out too.

On the pitch Luke Shaw is almost certain to play left back while Nathaniel Clyne will be on the other side.

Both players were called up to the U21s England team earlier in the week for the European Championships in June.

Stoke, a point above the Saints, will be without Charlie Adam who is suspended after being sent off in their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

The last time these two met, a thrilling 3-3 draw occurred at the Britannia Stadium with Cameron Jerome’s goal of the season contender the equaliser.

The final match of the season is a sell out and takes place at St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday May 19.
