Bursledon Windmill – a popular place for Western Wards residents to visit – will be undergoing the major restoration works to bring the Grade II listed building back into full operation.

The five-storey windmill, which was built in 1814, will have the sails that had been removed restored as part of the revamp.

Around 20 volunteers will be recruited and will instruct in traditional milling skills, as well as support the management of the site in the future, helping to run guided tours, workshops and special events.

The nearby Grade II listed granary and a 16th century barn will also be improved as part of the funding, which was awarded to Hampshire County Council and Hampshire Buildings Preservation Trust.
