A reward of up to £25,000 is being offered to anyone with information about a gang targeting cash points in the south, including one in Park Gate.
As reported in The Gazette, vandals attempted to damage a Barclay’s ATM in Botley Road along with a number of other machines in the Southampton area in what police believe were linked offences.
Vandals first attacked a machine at 11pm on July 9 at Portswood Road in Southampton.
They then attempted to vandalise the machine in Park Gate at 12.10am on July 10.
Four more attempts were made on July 11, where the vandals returned to Portswood Road at 1.10am and then moved on to Shirley Road, Southampton at 1.30am, Upper Market Street, Eastleigh at 2.28am and Lower Northam Road, Hedge End at 2.56am.
Then another attempt was made at Barclays, Shirley Road, Southampton overnight between July 16 and 17.
To help combat cash machine crime LINK, the UK’s cash machine network, is working with Crimestoppers to offer the reward for information.
Graham Mott, senior LINK spokesman said: “We’re urging the public to come forward with any information that they may have about cash machine crime, for example card skimming or physical attacks on cash machines themselves.
“Even something that may sound insignificant could be part of a bigger picture and prove invaluable in convicting someone involved in cash machine crime.”
Police are appealing to anyone who recognises the men or who saw them at the bank branches to contact PC Peter Watson at Southampton Central on 101 or to ring the anonymous Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111.
